Satyajit Ray's epic creation 'Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne' is all set to return to the big screen next year but in a whole new avatar and with a brand new story. Interestingly, 2019 will be the golden jubilee year of the original film's release. According to the latest reports, director Anindya Chatterjee will don the director's hat for this film. The music will be a bit different in this modern take of 'Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne'.
Rumour has it Anindya will also write the new story of the movie which will be produced by Tollywood superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee's home production. Previously, Anindya's 'Open Tee Bioscope' (2015) gained both critical acclaim and audience backing. Ray's 'Goopy Bagha' trilogy consists of three films namely 'Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne' (1968), 'Hirok Rajar Deshe' (1980) and 'Goopy Bagha Phire Elo' (1991). However, the last installment was directed by Sandip Ray, based on a story by Satyajit Ray at a time when the maestro was seriously ill.
