'The Villain' sets record for highest grosser on first day
'The Villain' hit the theaters on October 18 and reports say it has collected Rs 20 crore on day one at the box office. Previously Sudeep starrer 'Hebbuli' was the highest grosser for a Kannada movie. The Villain has now snatched the top spot. So Sudeep is making and breaking his own records.
The film was directed by Prem. Shiva Rajkumar and Kiccha Sudeep shared screen space for the first time. They both played the leads in the film. With these two top stars it was expected that 'The Villain' would take such a grand opening. Amy Jackson also made her debut in the Kannada film industry with this flick. Srikanth, Mithun Chakraborty and Sruthi Hariharan played pivotal roles in the film.
'The Villain' is made on a budget of Rs 45 crore. According to reports, the producer managed to recover more than half of the budget through the pre-release business. With the first day collections added to the business whole budget was recovered in day one itself. It is clear that in the first week only 'The Villain' will enter the 50 crore club.
