We lost one of the finest personality from media industry yesterday. He is none other than Alyque Padamsee. He is known as a great actor in theatre as well as movies. He is probably best known for playing Muhammad Ali Jinnah in Richard Attenborough's Oscar winning film 'Gandhi'. He was suffering from old age problems from last year. He was 90.
Padamsee was the Chief Executive who built Lintas India to be one of the top agencies in the country. He headed the company for 14 years. His huge contribution towards ad business makes him the Brand Father of Indian advertising. Padamsee created Lalitaji for Surf, Cherry Charlie for Cherry Blossom Shoe Polish, the MRF Muscle Man, the Liril girl in the waterfall, the Kamasutra couple, Hamara Bajaj, the TV detective Karamchand, the Fair & Handsome brand and many more.
Padamsee received Padmashri Award in 2000. He also received Sangeet Natak Akademi Tagore Ratna in 2012. Today Raveena Tandon, Suneeta Rao, Boman Irani, Nandita Puri and many more stars visited his funeral to pay their last respect.
