'Stree' is already a hit just in few days of weekends and it's doing the kick-ass job very well. The film overruled the common mistakes of two common genres of bollywood - 'Horror' and 'Comedy'. It excels in both ways. After her debut in 2010 drama 'Teen Patti' Shraddha Kapoor gave her best in many films such as Aashiqui 2, Ek Villain, Haider, ABCD 2, Baaghi. But her last films such as Rock On 2, Ok Jaanu, Half Girlfriend, Haseena Parkar did not so good business in the industry. So this movie could be considered as her big return in a ghostly manner. Rajkumar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurrana also played their role well.
'Stree' did a business of 6.05 Crore in its first day. On the following days it earns good amount too, Saturday - 10.5 Crore, Sunday - 14.25 Crore, Monday - 8.5 Crore and on Tuesday - 5.75 Crore. Stree did a total business of around 46 Crore till now and it could earn up to 60 Crore in its first week. The film is made over a budget of 20 Crore. The film was released worldwide on 31 August 2018.
Rediff critic Sreehari Nair said 'Not only are the concerns expressed in Stree (patriarchy, consent, prejudice against women) mere excuses to touch our 'sentimental hotspots', the movie itself is a few tricks cobbled together.'
On the other hand father-son starrer 'Yamla Pagla Deewana: Phir Se' starts badly comparing to 'Stree'. It merely earns 10 Crore till now. It seems 'Stree' not only hurt 'Mard' but also few films also.
